Portland is going to be expecting big things out of their squad against the upstart Orlando City SC.
Fanendo Adi now has three goals in three games but also already 10 fouls on the year. He somehow had 49 last year. That’s a lot for a striker so let’s hope Adi can keep his hands to himself a bit more this game. With how red-card happy the refs have been this year, the last thing Timbers need is to go down a man away against a very talented Orlando squad.

You call these wings spicy?

The Timbers’ wingers have been a big disappointment this year. They were really hoping for more than the occasional blocked shot or cross from the duo of Dairon Asprilla or Lucas Melano, yet so far this year they have a combined 0 goals and 0 assist. If Portland wants to start scoring the astronomical number of chances Valeri is giving them, they’re going to need a lot more out of these two.

One possible solution would be to give Jack McInerney, the 23 year old striker with 7 years experience and 39 goals, more playing time. Subbing him on for Asprilla instead of Adi or even starting him in Asprilla’s place would give the young talent some much needed winger experience and provide a spark which a guy like him can deliver. He pokes goals in the net all the time, he’s hungry to do more, and Asprilla has been as useful as a wet sandwich.  It may not be a long term solution if Jack can’t evolve into the winger role, but at the minimum Caleb Porter would show Asprilla that his job isn’t a guarantee. Or, just Barmby it. Barmby the situation right into Bagelshrimpshire village.

Ridgewell, the former premier league guy who partners with Borchers in the middle is expected to be out, so Jamaican Jermain Taylor will probably get the start in the middle.

Epcot is just a giant outdoor bar, and Kaka is probably fine with that

Kaka is very happy this week, and for good reason. Orlando is undefeated through three games and Kaka is going to make his 2016 debut appearance this weekend.  Orlando City SC is hoping to keep the good times rolling with a big home victory against the defending champs. There’s lots of reasons to have hope if you’re an Orlando City supporter. Cyle Larin for Orlando also has three goals in three games, and they are getting Kaka back who is all fired up, and best of all, Kaka gets to play with an old friend.

“And this week is going to be awesome. I get to play my first game; it is at home, and I will be playing with Antonio [Nocerino] again.” – Kaka

AC Milan buddies never die. It’s like the skull and bones fraternity.  Only Flamini is in it.

Julio Baptista, Brazilian, 34, and former Arsenal and Real Madrid stud, is going to be likely making his debut as well.

Orlando City SC 3-1 Portland Timbers. While the Timbers are a talented team, I think the Kaka/Baptista/Nocerino combo is going to be a lot for their patched up defense to handle, and I’m worried that the Timbers wingers are going to be flat once again.

Pork chops or Pork shank? I may never know which delights me more – deep thoughts by Orlando City SC coach Adrian Heath
