The League Cup final was last Sunday and it was gorgeous out. It felt like an autumn morning. This made for the perfect scenario to go out in search of a pre-noon pint. We met some ManU supporters at Sláinte before their soccer league match in Roosevelt Park. The bar’s proximity to this soccer field makes it the official bar for a lot of social leagues in NYC.
We had a Guinness, played soccer (I watched) and then came back for another and we were never judged. Brilliant!

How Many TVs are there to watch soccer on?
4 medium sized flat screens behind the bar and 1 projector screen in the back.
2 medium sized flat screen flanking entrance so you can actually enjoy watching people pass by while players are flopping. This will be a nice feature in the summer.
How Many floors have tvs?
Two I believe. Their site says “12 HDTVs, an awesomely large HD projector.” So if there were more TV’s they must be upstairs?
Does the bar/venue have a team allegiance?
How is the Beer quality?
The beer quality is top notch. Probably best beer selection I have seen at a soccer bar in NYC. Check out Sláinte’s Beer List. Top notch American Craft beer as well as high-end imports like Cuvee Jacobins Kriek.
They have a proper cocktail list too for an Irish Bar. We have a tendency to ask every bar we go to to make us a Negroni. That is a real wild card cocktail at most Irish Bars.
At least they state upfront what they are prepared to make and an Aperol Spritz is a great way to drink in the morning and get Vitamin C.
How is the food?
Solid Irish Fair and American Bar Classics. See Menu here.
How is the service?
It was not super packed but, the bartender managed 20 people without missing a beat. I can’t imagine service here would fall apart with more people.
4 Hoofs out of 5
Gains points for: There is enough space that you know it can handle a World Cup Final viewing. The draft list is top notch and there is plenty of space to squeeze into at the bar.
Loses points for: I really want to give this a 4.5 but, I couldn’t give they extra .5 without seeing the place in full swing. So this is more of a me problem.
I would have liked to seen some soccer memorabilia around to warm things up a bit and get a sense of a few clubs that the owners favor.
We gave Baker Street 4 Hoofs out of 5 and Sláinte’s layout makes things much more comfortable but, there is no picture of bartenders with Sir Alex Ferguson. So, it’s a wash for now.
Congratulations to Manchester United for their League Cup win.
